Andre De Grasse (born November 10, 1994 in Scarborough , Ontario ) is a Canadian sprinter .

At the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014 , he was eliminated over 200 meters in the semi-finals. In the 4 x 100 meter relay , he was part of the Canadian quartet that did not reach the finish in the final.

In 2015 he managed a double victory over 100 and 200 meters at the Pan American Games in Toronto . The Canadian 4 x 100 meter relay, of which he was the second runner, was the first to cross the finish line, but was disqualified because the first runner Gavin Smellie had crossed the track . At the 2015 World Championships in Beijing, he and the American Trayvon Bromell won the bronze medal over 100 meters behind Usain Bolt (Jamaica) and Justin Gatlin (USA). He increased his personal best to 9.92 s. With the 4 x 100 meter relay of Canada, he also won the bronze medal.

At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, he won the bronze medal over the 100 meters and the silver medal over the 200 meters. He also led the Canadian 4 x 100 meter relay as the final runner to the bronze medal. The Canadians had initially only achieved fourth place in a national record time of 37.64 s, but moved up one rank after the US relay was disqualified due to a substitution error.

At the 2019 World Championships in Doha ( Qatar ) he won the bronze medal over 100 meters after the Americans Christian Coleman and Justin Gatlin , where he improved his best performance. Over 200 m he won the silver medal behind Noah Lyles (USA).

Andre De Grasse studies at the University of Southern California . In 2015 he was NCAA champion over 100 and 200 meters.
