Aaron Brown (born May 27, 1992 in Toronto ) is a Canadian sprinter .

Athletic career

Aaron Brown gained his first international experience at international championships at the 2009 Youth World Championships in Brixen , where he won the silver medal over 100 meters and finished fifth with the Canadian sprint relay (1000 meters). A year later he won the bronze medal over 200 meters at the Junior World Championships in Moncton and was fifth over 100 meters. In 2011 he won the bronze medal over 100 meters at the Pan American Junior Championships in Miramar and silver with the Canadian 4 x 100 meter relay. In 2012 he qualified over 200 meters for the Olympic Games in London and was eliminated there with 20.42 s in the semifinals .

In 2013 Brown qualified over 100 meters for the World Championships in Moscow and was eliminated there with 10.15 s in the semifinals . With the Canadian relay he won the bronze medal behind the teams from Jamaica and the United States in 37.92 s. In 2014 he took part for the first time in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow , Scotland , where he was also eliminated in the semifinals with 10.17 s. In 2015 he participated in the World Championships in Beijing , where he was eliminated over 100 meters with 10.15 s in the semi- finals and over 200 meters with 20.43 s in the preliminary round. With the Canadian relay he again won the bronze medal in 38.13 s in the final , this time behind Jamaica and the People's Republic of China.

In 2016 Brown qualified again over 200 meters for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and was eliminated there in the semifinals with 20.37 seconds. With the Canadian 4 x 100 meter relay, he won the bronze medal behind Jamaica and Japan with a new national record of 37.64 s in the final . In 2017, the Canadian four-by-200-meter relay won the gold medal at the World Relays in the Bahamas and had to end their final run with the four-by-100-meter relay early. In August he took part in the World Championships in London and was disqualified there in the run over 200 meters due to a false start. With the Canadian relay, he finished sixth this time with 38.59 seconds in the final .

In April 2018 he won the silver medal over 200 meters in 20.34 seconds at the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast .

In 2013 and 2018 Brown was Canadian 100 meters and in 2015 and 2018 over 200 meters. In 2012 he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal .
