Clayton Murphy (born February 26, 1995 in Greenville (Ohio) ) is an American middle -distance runner who specializes in the 800-meter distance .

In 2015 he won the Pan American Games in Toronto . In 2016 he finished third at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro .

Clayton Murphy graduated from the University of Akron . In 2016 he signed with the shoe manufacturer Nike , in the second half of 2017 he became part of the Nike Oregon Project .

Murphy is engaged to sprinter Ariana Washington .
