Lindon Victor (born February 23, 1993 in St. George’s ) is a Grenadian decathlete .

Athletic career

Lindon Victor gained his first international experience at the CARIFTA Games 2009 in Vieux Fort , where he won the silver medal in the discus throw and bronze in the shot put in the U17 class. In 2010 he won bronze in the heptathlon at the CARIFTA Games in George Town . He also took part in the javelin throw at the first ever Youth Olympic Games in Singapore , where he finished thirteenth with 51.61 m. In 2011 he again won the bronze medal at the CARIFTA Games in Montego Bay and in 2012 he won in Hamilton with 4572 points. Two years later he took sixth place in the javelin throw at the U23 NACAC championships in Kamloops with 65.28 m and did not make a valid attempt with the discus. He also took part in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow for the first time , where he finished ninth in the decathlon with 7429 points.

In 2015 he reached seventh place at the Pan American Games in Toronto with 7453 points. A year later it exceeded the 8000 point mark for the first time. In two college competitions he reached 8446 and 8379 points, qualifying for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . There he reached the 16th place with 7998 points and was the flag bearer of Grenada at the final event.

In 2017, he improved Trey Hardee's college record to 8472 and later to 8539 points before defending his college championship title in his third decathlon that year . In August, Victor first took part in the World Championships in London . There he did not finish his competition after three invalid attempts in the discus throw, as did the indoor heptathlon at the 2018 Indoor World Championships in Birmingham , where he did not start on the second day after a high jump competition without a valid attempt. At the beginning of April he again took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast and won there with 8303 points ahead of the Canadian Pierce Lepage and the Australian Cedric Dubler .

In 2019 he completed his second best decathlon at the Hypo-Meeting in Götzis with 8473 points. At the Pan American Games in Lima in 2019 , he won the silver medal behind Damian Warner with 8,240 points . In October he again took part in the World Championships in Doha , where he was on the medal course until the beginning of the second day, before he failed to make a valid attempt in his best discipline, discus throwing and thus ended the competition prematurely.

Victor is a student at Texas A&M University . He is the brother of the Grenadian decathlete Kurt Felix .
