Aurel Manga (born July 24, 1992 in Paris ) is a French athlete who specializes in hurdles . At the 2018 Indoor World Championships and the 2019 European Indoor Championships , he won bronze in the 60-meter hurdles.

Athletic career

Aurel Manga has competed in hurdles since 2009, when he was U18 champion in France over the 110-meter distance. In the following years he also won medals in national title competitions. At that time, in addition to the hurdles, he also competed in the pure flat sprint. So also in 2013 at the U20 European Championships in Tampere, with which he competed for the first time in international championships. In the 100-meter sprint, he failed in the semifinals. Together with his teammates, he finished 6th with the 4x100 meter relay. In the following years he won further national titles in both the U23 and adult categories.

In 2016 he took part in the European Championships in Amsterdam. There he finished sixth in 13.47 seconds over the 110 meter hurdles. A year later he ran in 7.58 s to fifth place over the 60-meter hurdles at the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade. A month earlier, he set his current best over this distance in 7.53 s. In the summer he was eliminated from the World Championships in London in advance. Before that, he set his current best time of 13.27 s over 110 meters, just like he did over the 60-meter hurdles.

At the 2018 World Indoor Championships in Birmingham, he achieved his greatest sporting success to date with the bronze medal over the 60 meter hurdles. In summer he finished seventh at the European Championships in Berlin in 13.51 seconds over 110 meters. At the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow in 2019, he ran over 60 meters to bronze in 7.63 s.
