Yasser Mohamed Tahar Triki ( Arabic ياسر تريكي, DMG Yāsir Tarīkī ; * March 24, 1997 in Constantine ) is an Algerian athlete who competes in the long jump and the triple jump . In 2019 he won the gold medal in the long jump at the Africa Games in Rabat.

Athletic career

Yasser Triki has been competing in international competitions since 2013. He qualified for the U18 World Championships in Donetsk, where he competed in the long jump. With a width of 7.32 m in the final, he took seventh place. A year later he took part in both the long jump and the triple jump in the Youth Africa Games in Gaborone, Botswana. With 7.63 m he won the long jump, in the triple jump he won bronze. He then took part in the U20 World Championships in Eugene, in the United States. In ninth place he qualified for the final, in which he could not compete. Even at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, he could not compete.

In 2015 he won bronze at the U20 African Championships in Addis Ababa with a width of 7.39 m . In 2016 he again took part in the U20 World Championships, this time in Bydgoszcz, Poland . He increased in the long jump to a distance of 7.81 m and thus took fourth place. In 2017 he competed at the summer in Taipei. In the triple jump he was fifth, in the long jump he won the silver medal. In 2018 he competed in his first ever continental adult championship at the African Championships in Nigeria. In the long jump he was fourth, in the triple jump he won the bronze medal with 16.78 m.

In spring 2019, Triki jumped a new Algerian indoor record in the triple jump with 17.12 m as part of a college competition in Fayetteville , Arkansas . In April he then took part in the Africa Games in Rabat. With a width of 8.01 m, he won the gold medal in the long jump, which is his greatest sporting success to date. He also won silver in the triple jump. At the season highlight, the World Championships in Doha, which were also his first adult world championships, he failed in the triple jump with 16.62 m in the qualification and thus finished in 20th place. Two months later, he set new personal bests at the World Military Games in Wuhan, China. His 17.08 m triple jump meant a new national record after the indoor record also in the open air.

In addition to his international successes, Triki is also six-time Algerian champion, four times in the long jump and twice in the triple jump.
