Marike Steinacker (born April 3, 1992 in Wermelskirchen , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German athlete who specializes in discus throwing.

career path

Steinacker was initially enrolled at the University of Wuppertal for mathematics and natural sciences and is now studying fashion design at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences , but has now put her focus 100 percent on sport.

Athletic career

Marike Steinacker became German U20 champion in 2010 .

In 2011 she won bronze at the German U20 championships .

In 2012 she became German U23 runner-up and came 8th at the German championships .

In 2014 Steinacker won bronze at the German Junior Championships and came 7th at the German Championships .

In 2015 she took 8th place at the German Championships , in 2016 7th place .

In 2017 Steinacker already reached 6th place at the German championships and became German university runner-up.

In 2018, after three years without improvement, she had adjusted to the end of her career and had already trained, but a 58-meter throw gave her new hope. At the German championships she came in 8th place.

In 2019, Steinacker threw 61.08 meters over the 60 mark for the first time on April 11 at the evening sports festival Wurf SC Neubrandenburg and on May 26, at the 5th  junior meeting of SC Neubrandenburg with 63.24 meters, he met the standard of 61.20 meters for the world championships in Doha . With another standard of 62.61 meters, she reached 4th place at the German Championships . In view of the strong German competition, Steinacker missed the nomination for the world championships. The European Athletics Association (EAA) appointed her at the beginning of September as one of the German participants in the European line-up for the new competition format The Match , a comparison between Europe and the USA, from which the European team emerged victorious.

After the training change in the 2019 season, Steinacker had increased her personal best by over four meters.
