Patrícia Mbengani Bravo Mamona (born November 21, 1988 in São Jorge de Arroios , a municipality in Lisbon ) is a Portuguese athlete . She specializes in the triple jump .
Life
Patrícia Mamona studied Health Science at Clemson University in South Carolina . From 2002 to 2010 she started for the Juventude Operária do Monte Abraão from Queluz . She has been with Sporting Lisbon since 2011 . She is trained by José Uva.
successes
In 2006 she won the Portuguese Junior Championships in both the triple jump and the long jump and 100 meter hurdles . At the Jogos da Lusofonia 2006 in Macau she was third in both the triple jump (with 12.15 m) and in the long jump (with 5.65 m). She finished fourth at the 2006 Junior World Championships in Beijing with a new Portuguese junior record of 13.37 m. At the Jogos da Lusofonia 2009 in the Estádio Universitário de Lisboa, she won the triple jump competition with 13.79 m. At the 2010 European Championships in Barcelona , she was eighth of the final in the triple jump with 14.07 m. Second place went to the multiple Portuguese triple jump champion at the Summer Universiade 2011 in Shenzhen with 14.23 m. Her greatest success so far was the silver medal at the European Championships 2012 in Helsinki with 14.52 m behind Olha Saladucha . When she first participated in the Olympics, in London in 2012 , she missed a place in the final in qualifying with a gap of 5 cm. At the 2016 European Championships in Amsterdam , she won the gold medal with a new national record of 14.58 m, and the silver medal at the 2017 European Indoor Championships in Belgrade with 14.32 m behind Kristin Gierisch .
In 2019 she took fourth place at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow with a width of 14.43 m in the final.
Portuguese records
With her 14.65 m in her sixth place at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , she improved her Portuguese record in the triple jump. She had already improved this several times before, for example with 14.52 m, which she jumped on June 29, 2012 in Helsinki and before that 14.42 m on July 31, 2011 in Lisbon. She also holds the Portuguese record in the hall. She was able to improve this several times: after 13.85 m on March 13, 2010 in Fayetteville (Arkansas) , she jumped 13.94 m, on February 19, 2012 in Espinho , 13.99 m in qualifying for the 2013 European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg and on 14.36 m on February 22, 2014 at the Club Championship of Sporting Lisbon in Pombal . About five years later, Mamona increased again, after 14.36 m at the Indoor Meeting Karlsruhe , she improved her record on February 8, 2019 at the IAAF World Indoor Tour in Madrid, first to 14.38 m and then to 14.44 m.
