Career

Anna Schell started wrestling at the age of six when she took her older brother to wrestling training and she took a liking to wrestling. Your first club was the KSV "Bavaria" Waldaschaff . She is now 1.75 meters tall, weighs around 75 kg and therefore starts in the highest weight classes in women's wrestling. So far she has been trained by Peter Weißenberger, Jens Gündling and Patrick Loes. She is a police candidate, belongs to the sports promotion group of the Bavarian riot police and trains at the wrestling performance center in Aschaffenburg. She has been living in the Munich area since February 2019 and is now a member of SC Unterföhring .

She was already successful in the junior division and was German A youth champion in 2009 and 2010. In August 2010 she was runner-up in the junior age group "Cadets" in Sarajevo in the weight class up to 65 kg. She also became vice European champion in the age group "U 23" in 2015 and 2016.

In the women’s category, she was German vice-champion in 2012 and 2014 in the weight classes up to 72 kg and 69 kg, respectively. In 2014 she lost to Aline Focken in the final , who became world champion in the same year. Anna Schell was the first German champion in 2016 in the weight class up to 75 kg ahead of Francy Rädelt from Frankfurt (Oder). In 2017 she came third in the German championship in the weight class up to 75 kg behind Aline Focken and Maria Selmaier from KSC "Motor" Jena. After this championship she suffered a cruciate ligament rupture and was unable to compete for almost a year. After her recovery, she became German champion again in the weight class up to 68 kg in 2018, defeating Maria Selmaier in the final.

On the international wrestling mat she achieved good placements in many international tournaments from 2015 to 2018. In 2016 she started in Ulan-Bataar in qualifying for the Olympic Games in the weight class up to 75 kg. She came to a victory over Daria Osocka, Poland, then lost to Zsanett Nemeth from Hungary and won over Chang Hui-Tse from Taiwan and took 3rd place, which was not enough for participation in the Olympic Games.

In October 2018 she started in Budapest for the first time at a world championship for women in the weight class up to 68 kg. But she lost there in the first round against Blessing Oborududu from Nigeria and was eliminated because she did not reach the final. It took a disappointing 19th place.

At the European Women's Championship in Bucharest in April 2019, Anna Schell competed in the weight class up to 72 kg. First she was the pool winner ahead of Alexandra Anghel from Romania and Anastasia Zimiankowa from Belarus, then she defeated Tatiana Kolesnikowa Morosova from Russia in the semifinals , but lost in the final to the experienced ex-world champion Alina Stadnyk-Machynja from Ukraine. At the 2019 World Championships in Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan) Anna Schell started in the weight class up to 68 kg. She showed excellent fights there and won over Maria Mamaschuk, Belarus, Irina Netreba, Azerbaijan and Agnieszka Wieszczek-Kordus, Poland.
