Koumba Selene Fanta Larroque (born August 22, 1998 in Arpajon , Essonne ) is a French wrestler . In 2018 she became vice world champion in the weight class up to 68 kg body weight.

Career

Koumba Larroque started wrestling at the age of nine. She joined a wrestling club in Sainte-Genevieve-des-Bois (Essonne), which is on the northern edge of Paris. After her first successes with the juniors, Nodar Bochashvili became her trainer in 2014. She then moved to the sports club Bagnolet Lutte 93 . After being accepted into the French national squad, Thierry Bourdin was added as a coach. She often trains with the French national wrestling team in the training center of the French Wrestling Association in Font Romeu.

Koumba Larroque completed a training as a physiotherapist, but is z. Currently almost exclusively the wrestling.

In June 2013 it was used for the first time at an international championship, the Junior European Championship (age group Cadets) in Bar, Macedonia in the weight class up to 56 kg. She took 8th place. In her next starts at international junior championships, she has already won medals. In May 2014 she won the silver medal at the Junior European Championship (Cadets) in Samokow in the weight class up to 60 kg behind Grace Bullen from Norway, at the Junior World Championship (Cadets) 2014 in Snina, Slovakia, she finished in the same weight class, again behind Grace Bullen, again in 2nd place and finally she won a bronze medal at the 2nd Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing in August 2014.

After she had reached the 5th place in the junior European championship in the age group "Juniors" in Istanbul in the weight class up to 63 kg in June 2016, in August 2015 she first won the junior European championship (Cadets) in Subotica and still in the same month also winner of the Junior World Championship (Cadets) in Sarajevo, both times in the weight class up to 65 kg body weight.

In April 2016, the then almost eighteen-year-old tried to qualify for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. She took 3rd place at the qualification tournaments in Ulaan-Baatar and Istanbul in the weight class up to 63 kg, which means that she missed the qualification criteria by one place on both occasions. As a consolation for the missed Olympic qualification Koumba Larroque won in Bucharest in June 2016 in the age group "Juniors" in the weight class ahead of Elis Manolowa , Bulgaria and two months later in Macon also the world championship in the same age group and weight class. In the final, she defeated Han Yue from China in Macon.

In January 2017, Koumba Larroque started at the renowned Klippen Cup for the first time in an important competition for women. There she defeated the Swedish ex-world champion Jenny Fransson in the weight class up to 69 kg . After that, she started in a total of five international championships in 2017, winning three titles and finishing third twice. In March 2017 she was U23 European Champion in Szombathely in the weight class up to 69 kg ahead of Martina Kuenz , Austria. In May 2017 she lost to Anastasia Bratschikowa from Russia at the European Women's Championships in Novi Sad in the same weight class , but then secured a bronze medal with victories over Sofia Christowa Georgiewa from Bulgaria and Elis Manolowa. In 2017 she became Junior European Champion in Dortmund in the age group "Juniors" ahead of Denise Makota Ström from Sweden. At the women's world championships in Paris, she lost her first fight against Olympic champion Sara Dosho from Japan, but then defeated Anastasia Bratschikow and Martina Kuenz and won a bronze medal here too. In November 2017 Koumba Larroque also became U23 world champion in the weight class up to 69 kg in Bydgoszcz. In the final she defeated Naruha Matsuyuki from Japan.

Also in 2018 Koumba Larroque started very successfully at five international championships. In May 2018 she took part in the European Women's Championship in Russian Kaspiisk in the weight class up to 68 kg. There she defeated Monika Ewa Michalik from Poland and Buse Tosun from Turkey and was only defeated in the final against Anastasia Bratschikow, making her vice-European champion. In the same month in Moscow she became the military world champion in the weight class up to 72 kg. In June 2018 she was again U23 European champion in the same weight class in Istanbul. In the final, she defeated Anastasia Zimiankowa from Belarus. In September 2018 Koumba Larroque was again junior world champion in the weight class up to 72 kg in Trnava. At the Women's World Cup in Budapest, which took place in October 2018, she trained in the weight class up to 68 kg. She won in Budapest over Jang Eun-sil, Korea, Navjot Kaur, India, Olivia Grace Di Bacco, Italy and Tamyra Mariama Mensah-Stock from the United States, before losing to Alla Cherkassova from Ukraine in the final.

In November 2018 Koumba Larroque also became French champion in the weight class up to 76 kg. In the final, she won over Cynthia Vanessa Vescan.

In September 2019 she started at the World Championships in Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan) in the weight class up to 68 kg. After beating Ambar Garnica Flores from Mexico, she lost in her next fight against Jenny Fransson from Sweden. Jenny Fransson was then determined during a training check that she was doped. A final decision on this doping case has not yet been made. Jenny Fransson was vice world champion in Nur-Sultan, so that Koumba Larroque could continue to wrestle in the consolation round. But there she lost her fight against Battsetseg Soronzonbaold from Mongolia, with which she was eliminated and finished in 10th place.

At the Military World Games in Wuhan Koumba Larroque started in the weight class up to 76 kg. She won there against Randyll Beltz from the United States and lost her next fight against Alla Bellingskaya from Ukraine. She was eliminated after that and came in 7th place.

In January 2020 Koumba Larroque competed in the "Matteo Pellicone" tournament in Rome again in the Olympic weight class up to 68 kg. After a win over Jauhenija Andreitschikawa, Belarus, she lost in the next round to the reigning world champion in this weight class Tamyra Mensah-Stick from the United States. But she was able to continue in the consolation round, but lost her first fight there against Blessing Oborududu from Nigeria and therefore only finished 9th.
