Jenny Fransson

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anna Jenny Eva Maria Magnusson-Fransson (born July 18, 1987 in Karlstad ) is a Swedish wrestler . In 2012 she became world champion in the weight class up to 72 kg.

Career

Jenny Fransson started wrestling at the wrestling club Gällivare SK in 1994 at the age of seven . Now the squat, 1.68 meter tall athlete belongs to the Klippans BK sports club . Since joining the national team, she has been coached mainly by Fariborz Besarati. So far she always started in the weight class up to 72 kg body weight, the heaviest weight class in women's wrestling. At the moment, wrestling is also her job. She mentions cooking as a hobby.

Jenny Fransson has been contesting international championships since 2004. She had her first major success in 2006 when she became Junior European Champion in Szombathely ahead of Vasilissa Marsaljuk from Belarus . Her first medal win at an international championship for women succeeded in 2008 at the European Championships in Tampere . She came there with victories over Maider Unda Gonzales de Audicana from Spain and Karine Schadojan, Armenia , a defeat against Stanka Slatewa Christowa from Bulgaria and a victory over Marina Gastl from Austria in 3rd place and won a bronze medal .

Jenny Fransson achieved the greatest success of her career at the 2012 World Cup in Strathcona County / Canada . She became world champion there with victories over Yasemin Adar, Turkey , Oksana Waschtschuk , Ukraine , Xu Qing , China and Güzäl Mänürowa , Kazakhstan .

Between 2004 and 2012 Jenny Fransson, who is a frequent starter, competed in many international championships. She took part in the Olympic Games twice. In 2008 she lost in Beijing to the Olympic champion Wang Jiao from China and Ali Sue Bernard from the United States and came in 9th place. She achieved the same result in London in 2012 . There she won her first fight, almost in an Olympic revanche, against Ali Sue Bernard, but then lost against Stanka Slatewa Christowa and against Vasilissa Marsaljuk.

Otherwise, she usually took places between five and ten at the World and European Championships. There were mainly two wrestlers against whom she lost again and again at such championships and thus prevented better placements from her. That was Anita Schätzle from Germany and Stanka Slatewa Christowa.

Jenny Fransson is also a multiple Swedish champion. She won her first championship title at the age of 17 in 2004. In 2013, she was unable to repeat her success from the 2012 World Cup. She lost in Budapest after a victory over Wassilissa Marsaljuk somewhat surprisingly against Erica Wiebe from Canada. Since this did not reach the final, she was eliminated and only finished 13th.

From 2014 to 2016 Jenny Fransson did not win any more medals at the international championships, with one exception. The exception was at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, because there won in the weight class up to 69 kg body weight with victories over Signe Marie Store, Norway and Aline Focken , Germany, a defeat against Sara Doshō , Japan and a victory over Dorothy Yeats , Canada a bronze medal.

In 2020 Fransson tested positive for the doping agent methyltestosterone and was banned for four years.

Explanations
  • all free style competitions
  • OS = Olympic Games, WM = World Championship, EM = European Championship
  • In contrast to the men, world championships are also held for women in the years when the Olympic Games take place, because only four weight classes are held in the Olympic Games for women
