Dorothy Yeats

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dorothy Erzsebet Yeats (born July 29, 1993 in Montreal ) is a Canadian wrestler . She became a 2010 Youth Olympic Champion in Singapore .

Career

Dorothy Yeats began wrestling as a teenager in high school. She now belongs to the Montreal YMHA sports club and is trained by Victor Zilberman.

In 2008, she was the first Canadian junior champion in the cadet age group in the weight class up to 60 kg (cadets = up to the age of 16). In 2009 she repeated this success, but in the weight class up to 65 kg. In 2010 she won the Canadian elimination for the Youth Olympics in Singapore in the weight class up to 70 kg. Before these games she started at the Pan American Junior Championships in Managua and won there in the weight class up to 63 kg before Dailana Gomes dos Reis from Brazil . In Singapore she was the youth Olympic champion ahead of Moon Jin-ju from South Korea , Karina Stankowa from Ukraine and Rinna Kutschenkowa from Kazakhstan .

In 2011 Dorothy Yeats finished in the Canadian Junior Championship in the weight class up to 67 kg behind Sabrina Kelly in 2nd place. In the same year she was used by the Canadian Wrestling Association at the Commonwealth Championships in Melbourne in the weight class up to 63 kg and won there in front of the two Indians Anita Sheoran and Suman Kundu.

In 2012 Dorothy Yeats was Canadian Junior Champion and Canadian Champion in the women, both times in the weight class up to 67 kg. At the championships for women, she won against such experienced wrestlers as Stacie Anaka and Megan Buydens . In June 2012 she started at several tournaments in Europe . Her greatest success came at the Austrian Lady Open in Götzis , where she defeated the European champion of 2012 Henna Johansson from Sweden in the final . A start at the Olympic Games in London failed because the weight class up to 67 kg is not Olympic and therefore she should have trained in the weight class up to 63 kg. In this weight class, however, the starting position is occupied by the former world champion Martine Dugrenier .

The future in the heavy weight classes (up to 67 or 72 kg) in Canada definitely belongs to Dorothy Yeats. She already proved this in the next competitions, as she became Junior World Champion in Pattaya in September 2012 in the weight class up to 57 kg ahead of Swetlana Babuschka from Russia and Sara Dosho , Japan. In the same month she was runner-up in the same weight class in Strathcona County / Canada. There she defeated Yan Hong , China, Nadezhda Semenzowa , Azerbaijan, Alina Stadnyk-Machynja , Ukraine and only lost in the final against Adeline Gray from the United States .

In August 2013 Dorothy Yeats was again junior world champion in the weight class up to 67 kg in Sofia.
