Sherwood Park is a village in the western Canadian province of Alberta and has the semi-official status of an urban service area . It has 68,782 inhabitants and borders directly on the provincial capital Edmonton in the east . The village is the administrative seat of the administrative municipality ( English specialized municipality ) Strathcona County .

The municipality is crossed by several major traffic routes. In the north of the village runs, in addition to the Canadian National Railway and the Canadian Pacific Railway , Alberta Highway 16 , which is also called the Yellowhead Highway and is the northern route of the Trans-Canada Highway . Highway 216 runs to the west of the village and Highway 21 to the east .
