Erica Wiebe

Erica Elizabeth Wiebe (born June 13, 1989 in Stittsville, Ottawa ) is a Canadian wrestler . At a height of 1.75 m, her competition weight is 75 kg.

Life

Erica Wiebe grew up in Stittsville, a suburb of Ottawa. She began wrestling in 9th grade at Sacred Hearth Catholic High School in Ottawa, which she attended.

At the University of Calgary , she studied from 2007 to 2012 Movement Sciences ( "Kinesiology and Exercise Science" ). In 2012 she was named CIS Academic All-Canadians, an award for student athletes with a study result better than 80 percent. After completing her bachelor's degree in 2015, she graduated from the University of Calgary with a degree in sociology with a BA Hons . She is trained in Calgary by Paul Ragusa and Leigh Vierling .

Erica Wiebe was able to win several events in freestyle wrestling , for example in the class up to 72 kg in 2012 the Canada Cup in Guelph and in 2013 the Nordhagen Classics in Calgary , the Battle at the Falls in Niagara Falls (Ontario) and the Wacław Ziółkowski Memorial in Spała . She won freestyle wrestling up to 75 kg at the 2014 Student World Championships in Pécs . At the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow , she also won the gold medal in freestyle wrestling up to 75 kg. She also succeeded in doing this at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro .
