Marianna Sastin

Marianna Sastin (born July 10, 1983 in Mosonmagyaróvár ) is a Hungarian wrestler . In 2005 she was runner-up world champion and 2007 runner-up European champion in the weight class up to 59 kg.

Career

Marianna Sastin started wrestling as a teenager at SC Delta Mosonmagyaróvár . The young athlete reached the Hungarian top class when she was still a junior and therefore switched to Vasas SC Budapest and a little later to Csepel SC Budapest . She was or is trained by Zoltan Gulyas, Zsolt Bankuti and Akos Wöller. She is a student. On May 1, 2011 she married her coach Akos Wöller, who was active as a wrestler in the German Bundesliga with SV Siegfried Hallbergmoos and AV Germania 06 Markneukirchen .

Her international wrestling career began at the European Junior Championship in Budapest in 1999, where she took 6th place in the "Juniors" age group in the weight class up to 50 kg. In 2000 she took second place behind the Russian Julia Bartnowskaja at the junior European championships for the age group "Cadets" in Bratislava in the weight class up to 56 kg. That was the best result she achieved as a junior wrestler.

She made her adult debut at the 2001 European Championships in Budapest. But she lost there in the weight class up to 56 kg against Konstantina Katerina Tsibanakou from Greece and against Christina Oertli from Germany and finished in 12th place. She did very well at the 2003 World Cup in New York City , where she just missed the medal ranks with a 4th place. She then celebrated her greatest success at the 2005 World Cup, which took place again in Budapest. With victories over Stephanie Meierhofer from Austria , Anna Swirydowska from Poland and Sally Roberts from the United States and a defeat in the final against Ayako Shōda from Japan , she was runner-up there.

Marianna Sastin also fought well at the World Championships in Guangzhou and won in the weight class up to 59 kg against Johanna Mattsson from Sweden , Jacqueline Renteria from Colombia and Stefanie Stüber from Germany. After losing to Su Lihui from China and Natalja Shimishin from Ukraine , she missed the medal places with 5th place. She then won a medal again at the 2007 European Championships in Sofia . She only lost there in the final fight against Ida-Theres Nerell from Sweden and thus became vice European champion. At the 2007 World Cup in Baku , she only managed to win one, and after defeats to Elena Schaligina from Kazakhstan and Helena Allandi from Sweden, she only came in 13th.

In 2008 Marianna Sastin was able to qualify for participation in the wrestling competitions at the Olympic Games in Beijing . In Beijing, however, she lost in the weight class up to 63 kg in her first fight against Martine Dugrenier from Canada. Since this did not reach the final, she was eliminated and only came in 15th place.

In 2009 she won a medal again with 3rd place at the world championships in Herning / Denmark in the weight class up to 59 kg. After a loss in the semifinals against Julia Radkewitsch from Azerbaijan , she won the bronze medal with a victory over Deanna Rix from the United States. She won another medal at the 2010 European Championships in Baku, namely a bronze one. On the way to this medal she defeated u. a. also Yvonne Englich-Hees from Germany. With a 5th place at the 2010 World Championships in Moscow and a further 5th place at the 2011 European Championships in Dortmund, she did very well in the last two international championships, although she just missed a medal in each case.

At the Olympic Games in London in 2012 , Marianna Sastin lost her first fight against the European champion Julija Ostaptschuk from Ukraine . Since this wrestler did not reach the final, she was eliminated and finished in 11th place.
