World Wrestling Championships 2005

The World Wrestling Championships 2005 took place from September 26th to October 2nd, 2005 in the Papp László Budapest Sportaréna in Budapest . It was wrestled in both Greco-Roman and free styles . The wrestlers were divided into seven weight classes. For the first time, two bronze medals were awarded per competition at world championships. 734 athletes from 98 nations announced their participation.

Greco-Roman

The Greco-Roman style competitions took place from September 30th to October 2nd, 2005.

Women

The women's competitions took place from September 28-30, 2005. The wrestlers from Japan secured medals in six of the seven competitions. Only Eri Sakamoto could not place in the medal ranks with a seventh place in the weight class -67 kg.
