World Wrestling Championships 1953

The 1953 Wrestling World Championships took place in Naples from April 17 to 19, 1953 . The wrestlers were divided into eight weight classes. In contrast to 1951 , the wrestling was not in the free , but in the Greco-Roman style . Of the Soviet wrestlers who started, only Olympic champion Jakow Punkin missed a medal in fifth place in the weight class up to 62 kg.
