The 1951 Wrestling World Championships took place in Helsinki from April 26th to 29th, 1951 . The wrestlers were divided into eight weight classes. In contrast to all previous world championships, the wrestling was not in the Greco-Roman but in the free style . The wrestlers from Turkey secured medals in seven of the eight competitions. Only Adil Candemir could not place in the medal ranks with a sixth place in the weight class over 87 kg.
