Adil Candemir
Adil Candemir (born 1917 in Amasya ; † January 12, 1989 ) was a Turkish wrestler.
Candemir grew up in Amasya and began playing the Turkish national sport of oil wrestling there as a teenager. In addition, he soon started in Olympic wrestling , both in the Greco-Roman style and in the free style. In 1936 he was part of the Olympic squad, but was not used. His international career only began in London in 1948 , where he won a silver medal in free style in the middleweight division. His coaches at that time were Onni Pellinen and Nuri Boytorun. In 1952 he resigned from international wrestling. Candemir became a trainer himself and led Mahmut Atalay and Hamit Kaplan to the top of the world.

- 1949, 1st place , EM in Istanbul , F, Hs, with victories over Nasir Javid, Iran and Wiking Palm , Sweden ;
- 1950, 3rd place , World Championships in Stockholm , GR, S, with victories over Ibrahim Orabi, Egypt and Natale Vecchi, Italy and one defeat against Alois Krešnar, Czechoslovakia ;
- 1951, 6th place , World Championships in Helsinki , F, S, with victory over Kenneth Richmond , United Kingdom and defeat against Ahmed Vafadar, Iran and Bertil Antonsson , Sweden
