World Wrestling Championships 1989
The Wrestling World Championships 1989 took place from August 24 to September 3, 1989 in Martigny . It was wrestled in both Greco-Roman and free styles . The wrestlers were divided into ten weight classes per style , while the women competed in nine weight classes.

The women's competitions took place from August 24th to 25th, 1989. There were 53 wrestlers from 13 nations at the start, including Sandra Schrenker , the only German woman who came fourth in the -65 kg weight class. While there were nine participants in the -57 kg weight class, there were only two in the -75 kg weight class, so no bronze medals were awarded there.
