Uwe Neupert (born August 5, 1957 in Greiz ) is a former German wrestler .

Career

Uwe Neupert grew in Greiz and began at the local traditional power sports club RSV rotation with the rings . At the age of 16 he was noticed by SC Motor Jena talent scouts and was brought to their center of excellence. His first trainer was Peter Gründig. Later he mainly trained under Wolfgang Nitschke . The talented Uwe, who completed an apprenticeship as a car mechanic, made rapid progress and became a Spartakiade winner in 1975 (GDR youth champion) and a silver medalist at the Junior World Championship in 1976. From this point on he wrestled for thirteen years with great success at the Olympic Games, World and European Championships. He was twice world champion and three times European champion and won an Olympic silver medal. He won a total of 19 international medals. For example, he fought against Sanadar Oganessian and Magomed Magomedov.

After the political change, Uwe Neupert went to Baden-Württemberg and fought in the Bundesliga at KSV Wiesental for a few years . Uwe Neupert completed his studies to become a qualified sports teacher.

In 1980 Uwe Neupert was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze in the GDR .

Neupert was systematically doped as part of the state-prescribed doping in GDR competitive sports.
