Dieter Heuer

Dieter Heuer (born August 8, 1942 in Utzedel , Demmin district ) is a former German wrestler and Vice European Champion 1974 in Madrid in the Greco-Roman style in the light heavyweight division.

Career

Dieter "Recke" Heuer grew up in Demmin where she started as a teenager with the rings . After initial successes he was delegated to SG Dynamo Luckenwalde because of his talent . Dieter Heuer, who joined the police, developed into an excellent wrestler in Greco-Roman. Style. In 1966 he first drew attention to himself when he finished 2nd at the GDR middleweight championships behind Lothar Metz . With Lothar Metz, the 1968 Olympic champion in Mexico City , Dieter fought very interesting fights at the GDR championships over the next few years. Twice, in 1970 and 1972, Dieter Heuer was able to place himself in front of the Olympic champion and to become GDR champion. He won this title a total of five times. Dieter Heuer was a long-runner at national level, because he was GDR runner-up in 1981, at the age of 37 and in 1984 at the age of 42.

Dieter Heuer was also successful on the international wrestling mat. When he first played at the European Championships in Katowice in 1972 , he finished 6th in the light heavyweight division with two wins and a year later at the European Championships in Helsinki, 5th place. Dieter Heuer achieved the greatest success of his career at the 1974 European Championship in Madrid . He came there with four victories on the 2nd place and was vice European champion. Also at the 1974 World Cup in Katowice he achieved an excellent result with 5th place.

Dieter Heuer achieved a special kind of feat at the European Championships in 1975 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein , because of his five fights he won only two and lost three, but he still won the bronze medal . Dieter also achieved an excellent result at the World Cup in Minsk in 1975 , where he only just missed a World Cup medal with 4th place.

Dieter Heuer was unlucky in his career as he faced two overpowering opponents in the GDR with Lothar Metz and at the international level in Valeri Resanzew from the Soviet Union .

After Dieter Heuer was not sent to the 1976 Olympic Games, he ended his international career.
