Darko Nišavić

Darko Nišavić (born May 28, 1952 , † 2005 ) was a Yugoslav wrestler and winner of the bronze medal at the 1972 European Championships in Greco-Roman. Light heavyweight style.

Career

Darko Nišavić was one of the many world-class Serbian athletes who came from Vojvodina . He was a member of "Proleter" Zrenjanin and represented Yugoslavia from 1972 to 1980 regularly at the international championships in Greco-Roman. Style. He made his debut at the Junior European Championship (Cadets, up to the age of 18) in Huskvarna , where he became European Champion .

With the seniors, his international career began at the 1972 European Championships in Katowice . Towards the end of his career, Darko came in 6th place at the World Championships in Mexico City in 1978 and in San Diego in 1979, each in the light heavyweight division. In his last participation in an international championship, at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow , he was eliminated after the second round.

During his entire career, Darko never got past two wrestlers: Valeri Resanzew, the multiple world and Olympic champion and Stojan Nikolow (Ivanov) from Bulgaria, who was clearly the second best wrestler in the world in his weight class after Resanzew.

Darko Nišavić died at the age of 53.
