Peter Döring (wrestler)

Peter Döring (born August 14, 1943 in Ticino ) is a former German wrestler .

Career

Peter Döring started as a teenager with rings . Due to his talent, he was soon delegated to SG Dynamo Luckenwalde . In 1964 he made lasting attention when he was GDR junior champion in free style in the light heavyweight division in Luckenwalde. In the seniors he was in 1966 with a 3rd place in the light heavyweight division for the first time on the podium at the GDR championships.

Between 1968 and 1970 he represented the GDR at four international championships. He always achieved good results with places four to six. It started in 1968 at the European Championships in Skopje , where he took an excellent 4th place in the middleweight division. He won and lost two fights each. In the same year he was also at the Olympic Games in Mexico at the start and reached the 6th place in the middleweight division. At the European Championships in Sofia in 1969 Peter Döring came in a good 5th place and at the European Championships in 1970 in Berlin he again reached 4th place, although he remained undefeated with one win and three undecided fights, but due to his fault points after the 4th round had to be eliminated.

After 1970, Peter Döring was no longer considered by the GDR Association for international championships.
