Günther Bauch
Günther Bauch (born April 30, 1939 in Halle ) is a former German wrestler . He was a participant in the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo .
Career
Günther Bauch began wrestling as a teenager at the company sports club Chemie Buna Schkopau . Due to his talent, he was later delegated to SC Chemie Halle and trained there to become one of the best freestyle wrestlers in the GDR in the middleweight division. The trained electric welder first drew attention to himself in 1962 when he finished 2nd at an international tournament in Aue . GDR middleweight champion was Günther Bauch for the first time in 1963. In the same year he was also used for the first time at an international championship, the World Championship in Sofia . There he met in the first two rounds on the world champions and Olympic champions from past and future years Ahmet Ayık ( Turkey ) and Mansour Mehdizadeh ( Iran ), against whom he was defeated.
In 1964, Bauch prevailed in the all-German Olympic elimination for the Middleweight Games in Tokyo against the experienced Johann Sterr from Munich- Neuaubing with a point win in Leipzig and a draw in Dortmund . In Tokyo, Bauch achieved two victories, including over the Mongols Chorloogiin Bajanmönch ; so he reached the 7th place.
In 1966 and 1967 Günther Bauch was still used at the European Championships in Karlsruhe and Istanbul . In Karlsruhe he had to give up after the 1st round due to injury and in Istanbul he finished 7th.
