European wrestling championships 1966

The European wrestling championships in 1966 took place in Essen (Greco-Roman style) and Karlsruhe (freestyle). It was the first European championships after a 15-year hiatus, as no European championships in wrestling had been held since 1949 .

In addition, European championships were held in both styles for the first time since 1937 .
