European wrestling championships 1969

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European wrestling championships in 1969 were held in Greco-Roman style in June in Modena, Italy and in September in Sofia, Bulgaria, in freestyle.

Greco-Roman

The Greco-Roman style tournament in Modena was held without the participation of wrestlers from the Eastern Bloc countries. The Italian organizers did not want to fly the flag of the GDR, so the GDR, the USSR, Hungary and other countries stayed away from the tournament.

Worth mentioning

The Luxembourg Josef dim finished fourth in the super heavyweight Greco-Roman style. Schummer is so far the only male wrestler for Luxembourg.
