Fritz Huber (wrestler)
Fritz Huber (born April 6, 1949 in Weißbach (Bad Reichenhall) ) is a former German wrestler and winner of the bronze medal at the European Flyweight Championships in 1969 in the Greco-Roman style.
Career
Fritz Huber grew up in the Weißbach district of Bad Reichenhall and began wrestling as a student at AC Bad Reichenhall . His first trainer, from whom he learned a lot, was the old international Josef Paar . Fritz wrestled mainly in the Greco-Roman style. He was already very successful in the youth field and was German youth champion in the Greco-Roman style in 1965 (class up to 40 kg body weight), 1966 (class up to 43 kg body weight) and 1967 (class up to 48 kg body weight). In 1967 he also won this title in free style. In 1970 he won his first German flyweight league title in Greco-Roman style in front of the former vice world champion Rolf Lacour .
At his first start at an international championship, he achieved the greatest success of his career when he won the bronze medal at the European flyweight championship in Modena in the Greco-Roman style. In 1971 he reached a respectable 6th place at the World Flyweight Championships in Sofia .
In 1972 he represented the Federal Republic of Germany at the Olympic Games in Munich and came in 10th place in the flyweight division. At the end of his international career, he achieved a 7th place with two wins at the 1974 European Bantamweight Championships in Madrid .
Fritz Huber, who had become a hotel manager after graduating from high school, then concentrated more on his professional development and no longer competed in international championships. But he fought for KSV Witten 07 for many years . With this club he became German team champion in 1978, 1980 and 1981 .
