Life and Achievements

Veil comes from a family of wrestlers. His brother Siegfried was also a wrestler. Veil fought mostly in the Greco-Roman style, but he also celebrated numerous successes in freestyle wrestling. He started for clubs in Friesenheim and Schifferstadt .

As a junior he initially fought in the weight class up to 63 kg; when Veil was able to reduce his fighting weight to 57 kg, the time of his great success began. Because of his stature (1.60 m tall, dark hair / mustache ), Veil was often mistaken for a Turkish wrestler.

After his wrestling career, Hans-Jürgen Veil worked as a property manager at a Ludwigshafen housing company. Today he lives as a pensioner with his wife in Ludwigshafen.
