Tony Vincent (born July 25, 1973 in Albuquerque , New Mexico; real name Anthony Peter Strascina ) is an American rock singer and musical actor. He chose his stage name after his grandfather.

biography

At the age of 7, Vincent played in smaller theater productions at his school. His professional singing career began while studying at Belmont University in Nashville. At this time he recorded his first single, Love Falling Down . Through the release, Star Song Records / EMI became aware of Vincent, where he signed his first recording deal. During the next 6 years he released 3 albums, 6 of which reached number 1 on the Billboards Radio Charts in the United States.

Rent

In 1998 Vincent moved to New York only a short time later to find himself in one of the leading roles on the national tour of Rent production. In January 1999 he made his Broadway debut in the same production. Here he played first Roger and later Mark.

Jesus Christ superstar

In 2000 Vincent starred as Simon Zealotes in the remake of Jesus Christ Superstar . Vincent was scheduled for the same role again in the later Broadway production. Due to the departure of Jason Pebworth, the original cast for the role of Judas, 3 weeks before the premiere, Vincent was reassigned to the lead role by the show composer Andrew Lloyd Webber. Vincent's appearances as Judas earned him a nomination for the Outer Critics Awards for "Best Featured Actor". Impressed by his Broadway performance, AL Webber selected Vincent for a production in China to promote Andrew Lloyd Webber's music in China. This performance was later released on DVD as the Andrew Lloyd Webber-Masterpiece (Live in Beijing).

We will rock you

In 2002 Vincent took on the lead role of Galileo Figaro in the Queen musical We Will Rock You (WWRY) in London's West End. He played this role until November 2003. He was also on stage with the remaining band members of Queen at the Party at the Palace on the occasion of Queen Elizabeth II 's 50th anniversary in June 2002 and sang the song Bohemian Rhapsody .

The North American production of WWRY started in 2004. Vincent again took on the leading role of Galileo. Here he met his future wife, Aspen Miller (now Aspen Vincent), who played the leading female role of Scaramouche in the production. Vincent played here until July 2005, when he returned to his solo career.

American idiot

Vincent was one of the original cast of the production in the role of St. Jimmy. The Tony Award winning musical is based on Green Day's album of the same name. The show was first performed at the Berkeley Repertory Theater. The Broadway premiere took place on April 20, 2010. Tony Vincent stayed in production through December 2010.

Solo career

Vincent released four solo albums: Love Falling Down (1993), Tony Vincent (1995), One Deed (1997), and the 5-track EP A Better Way (2007). He had six number 1 songs on the American Billboards CHR / CRR radio charts: Simple Things, Whole New Spin, Out of My Hands, High, Do You Really, and One Deed. In February 2011 Vincent founded the band Bad Omens together with Kevin Max and David Larring. They are currently working on songs for a planned album.
