Peter Germer
Peter Germer (born September 26, 1949 in Baasdorf , Koethen district ) is a former German wrestler .
Career
Peter Germer started wrestling as a teenager. His great talent soon showed, especially for free style. In the youth and junior sector he was soon one of the best wrestlers in the GDR in his respective age and weight class. By the age of 20 he developed into a relatively light super heavyweight, who convinced with his good technique and his speed. His club was SC Motor Jena . There he was trained by Alois Pachmann. In 1969 he was the first time GDR champion in the senior heavyweight division. In the same year he was also used at the European Championships in Sofia and won a bronze medal in the heavyweight division on his debut. The GDR did not take part in the 1969 World Championships in Mar del Plata in Argentina .
Peter Germer also won a bronze medal at the 1970 European Championship in East Berlin , but this time in the super heavyweight division. He only lost to the Soviet athlete Leonid Kitow . In the same year he finished 3rd at the World Championships in Edmonton . All he had to do was admit defeat to Olympic champion and multiple Soviet world champion Alexander Medved .
At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich , Peter Germer only won against Ștefan Stîngu from Romania and had to be beaten by Alexander Medwed again, but took a good 6th place.
In 1973 Peter Germer paused on the international wrestling mat. In 1974 in Madrid he was back at the European Championships and was an honorable 5th winner. At the World Championships in Istanbul in 1974 , he played his last international championship, where he once again achieved a respectable sixth place.
In the meantime he had grown up a competitor in the GDR in Roland Gehrke , who replaced him on the international wrestling mat. He therefore ended his career as an active wrestler and became a very successful trainer in Jena, who u. a. and Andreas Schröder formed.

- 1970, 3rd place , World Championships in Edmonton , F, SS, with victories over Gregory Woiciechowski, USA , Alwyn Visser, South Africa and Edward Wojda, Poland, a draw against Osman Duraliew , Bulgaria and a defeat against Alexander Medwed , Soviet Union;
- 1971, 10th place , World Championship in Sofia, F, SS, with victory over Tomomi Tsuruta, Japan and defeats against Duraliew and Alaettin Yildirim, Turkey;
- 1972, 6th place , OS in Munich , F, SS, with victory over Ștefan Stîngu , Romania, a draw against Stanisław Mackowieki , Poland and a defeat against Medwed;
- 1974, 5th place , EM in Madrid , F, SS, with victory over Sergio Carlesi, Italy and defeat against Bojan Boew , Bulgaria and Ladislau Șimon , Romania;
- 1974, 6th place , World Cup in Istanbul , F, SS, with victory over Lasono Snoraks, Cuba and defeats against Heinz Eichelbaum , Germany and Boew
