World Wrestling Championships 1978
The Wrestling World Championships 1978 took place from August 20 to 27, 1978 in Mexico City . It was wrestled in both Greco-Roman and free styles . The wrestlers were divided into ten weight classes. The Soviet Union celebrated athletes on the podium in all 20 competitions.
Greco-Roman
The Greco-Roman style competitions took place from August 20 to 23, 1978. In addition to the medal winners Pasquale Passarelli came for Germany still Erich Klaus kg in fifth place in the weight category -68, Kurt Spaniol kg in fifth place in the weight category -82, Hans-Günter Klein kg in fifth place in the weight category -100 and Rolf Krauss sixth in the Weight class -52 kg under the best six. The GDR had with Dietmar Hinz kg in fifth place in the weight category -48 and Heinz-Helmut Wehling sixth in the weight category -68 kg two athletes among the top six.

Freestyle
The freestyle competitions took place from August 24th to 27th, 1978. In addition to the medalist Adolf Seger , the German wrestler Peter Neumair placed fourth in the -90 kg weight class and Martin Knosp placed sixth in the -74 kg weight class among the top six.
