Heinrich Welslau

Heinrich Welslau (born April 20, 1918 in Asperheide ; † October 31, 1991 in Lemgo ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school , Welslau completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter, which he completed with a social examination. He then did Reich labor and military service in the Air Force . From 1939 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier . At the end of the war he was taken prisoner. After his release from captivity , Welslau initially worked as a carpenter's journeyman, joined IG Holz and became chairman of the works council . He was also chairman of the Gymnastics and Sports Association in the Lemgo district since 1956 .

Local politics

Welslau was a council member of the Lockhausen community since 1946 , then from 1952 to 1969 a member of the district council of the Lemgo district and since 1964 a member of the association assembly of the Lippe regional association .

Welslau served as honorary mayor of the municipality of Lockhausen from 1951 to 1968 and, after the local reorganization, from 1969 to 1976 as honorary mayor of the city ​​of Bad Salzuflen .

Federal politics

He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1957 to 1969 and from February 26, 1970, when he replaced the deceased MP Friedhelm Dohmann , until 1972. From 1961 to 1965 he represented the Lemgo constituency in parliament . In the remaining electoral periods he entered the Bundestag via the state list of North Rhine-Westphalia .
