Wood and Plastic Union

The Wood and Plastics Union (GHK) was a union of the German Trade Union Federation (DGB) based in Düsseldorf .

She was on 27./28. Founded May 1949 in Königswinter by the union of the 3 woodworkers unions in the western zones under the name of the woodworking union (GH). In 1966 it was renamed the Wood and Plastics Union (GHK). In 1990 it had 149,000 members.

On January 1, 2000, she joined IG Metall (IGM). The disbanded union is not to be confused with the union of the same name, which was founded after this merger and is a member of the Christian Trade Union Confederation (CGB). In the meantime, after a court settlement, the GHK of the Christian Union has been renamed the Union for the Plastics Industry and Wood Processing in the CGB eV (GKH).
