The trade union for plastics and wood processing in the CGB (GKH) is a Christian professional association for employees in the wood and plastics trade, as well as in the model making trade. She is a member of the Christian Trade Union Confederation . In a judgment dated September 23, 2011, the Hamm Labor Court revoked the GKH's tariff eligibility.

Self-image

The union sees itself as an independent union vis-à-vis political parties, churches, governments and companies. It is committed to the social market economy and social partnership .

According to her own statements, she strives for more co-determination for the individual employee, but rejects excessive influence from functionaries (“functionaries rule”). The GKH advocates fair participation in the productive capital of the German economy (employee equity participation). With regard to the single trade unions, she advocates trade union pluralism. The GKH calls for "fair pay for female workers and opposes any form of discrimination."

Union work

The GKH offers labor and social legal protection through its secretariats in all disputes before labor and social courts, against employers and social security agencies. All members receive the German trade union newspaper (DGZ) . The members can organize themselves in company groups and take part in events organized by the educational organization of the Christian trade unions . Members of works councils receive advice on all questions of employee participation. She works in self-governing bodies of social security .

Withdrawal of tariff eligibility

The Hamm Labor Court recognized the GKH on September 23, 2011, the tariff eligibility. It justified this with the small number of members and the lack of social power and thus followed the judgment of the Federal Labor Court (BAG) of October 5, 2010. In September 2011, the GKH had only 1,653 members. A judgment from 2009 in which the Federal Labor Court ruled that the GKH's tariff eligibility could not be conclusively judged, as important documents such as membership numbers were missing, was thus revised. As a rule, the GKH concluded collective agreements that were below the level of IG Metall , the unified trade union for this area.
