The Association of Catholic German Teachers eV (VkdL) is the trade union for Catholic teachers in the Christian Trade Union Federation . It was founded in 1885 and is based in Essen .
The association is committed to:
- teacher training appropriate to school and pupil
- professional ethical and religious training and further education for members
- the interests of the members in questions of salary policy, civil service and labor law
- Legal advice and legal protection
The VkdL publishes the association magazine Catholic education . The VkdL-Bildungswerk (BiWe) was founded in 1983 and is also based in Essen. The association is said to have around 8,000 members.
