Wolfgang Ehrl (born March 4, 1912 in Munich ; † June 11, 1980 ibid), called "Bubi", was one of the most successful German wrestlers in the feather and lightweight class, who enjoyed his success in both styles (freestyle and Greco-Roman style ) achieved.

Career

At the age of 20, Wolfgang Ehrl was one of the best German wrestlers in the featherweight class and later in the lightweight class. He was successful in both styles, Greco-Roman and freestyle. He was a member of the Munich Sports Association (MSV). Wolfgang Ehrl was a butcher by profession. On the international mat he was constantly on duty for Germany from 1932 to 1936 . After 1936 it was used in many international competitions before the beginning of the Second World War, but no longer in international championships. However, in 1938 there were no more European championships in free style. After the Second World War, Wolfgang Ehrl was still one of the best German lightweight wrestlers. In 1951, at the age of 39, he even started again at the World Championships in free style in Helsinki , where he took an honorable 5th place.

In 1952 economic reasons forced Wolfgang Ehrl to join the professional wrestler. He was actually too easy for this job, but was still able to achieve some successes due to his outstanding technical ability. After finishing his professional career, Wolfgang Ehrl lived in Munich and made a living as a trainer for the youngsters at MSV München -Ost.
