Konstantin Schneider (born February 17, 1975 in Frunze, Kyrgyz SSR , Soviet Union , today Bishkek , Kyrgyzstan ) is a German wrestler in the Greco-Roman style.

Career

Konstantin Schneider grew up in what was then the Soviet Union and started wrestling there as a teenager . After moving to the Federal Republic of Germany , he joined KSV St. Ingbert , where he was supported by his father, Dr. Heinrich Schneider was trained. In 1992 he was German youth champion in the weight class up to 63 kg body weight in the Greco-Roman style. He concentrated on this style throughout his wrestling career. He was also German youth champion in 1993, but in the weight class up to 68 kg body weight. In 1995 he became German junior welterweight champion and in 1996 he was the first German champion in the senior welterweight division ahead of Murat Cebi from KSV Aalen and Mario Lauer from KSV Haslach iK From KSV St.Ingbert he moved to VfK Schifferstadt and a few years later to KSV Köllerbach . His father was followed by Markus Scherer , Frank Hartmann, and Günter Reichelt and Maik Bullmann in the national team . Konstantin Schneider works as a croupier .

In 1993 Konstantin Schneider took part in an international championship for the first time. However, he lost his first fight against the Bulgarian Milew at the European Junior Championships in the Austrian Götzis in the lightweight and remained unplaced. Two years later, in 1995, he achieved his first major international success at the Junior World Championships in Tehran . He was there in welterweight behind Tamas Berzicza from Hungary and before Nazmi Avluca from Turkey junior vice world champion .

Despite his German championship title in 1996, he did not appear in the international championship in the next few years. That was because he did not win another German championship title in the following years. He either always placed behind Erik Hahn from RSV Frankfurt (Oder) or, as in 2000 and 2001, could not take part in the German championships. An exception was the year 1999, where he was used at the World Cup in Athens . In welterweight he came there to a victory over Nazim Akhmedov from Azerbaijan , but lost his second fight against Marko Yli-Hannuksela from Finland and therefore remained unplaced according to the then somewhat strange regulations. He also took part in an Olympic qualification tournament in Faenza in 2000 , where he only finished 20th. Erik Hahn started at the other Olympic qualification tournaments in the welterweight division. However, the German welterweights did not succeed in fighting for a starting place at the Olympic Games in Sydney .

In 2002 Konstantin Schneider finally fought for a German welterweight championship title in front of Adam Juretzko from VfK Schifferstadt, who was the main competitor for the leading position in Germany in welterweight over the next few years. From 2002 onwards Konstantin Schneider's international wrestling career really began. It was used at the World Championships in Moscow that year and came in 7th place after victories over Xueming Dei, China and Park Jin-sung, South Korea and a loss against Volodymyr Schazkych , Ukraine. At a start of a West European selection against Cuba in St. Ingbert , he won over Filiberto Ascuy Aguilera in 2002 .

He also won 7th place at the 2003 European Championships in Belgrade . He won there over Reto Bucher from Switzerland and Vugar Aslanow from Azerbaijan and lost to Aljaksandr Kikinjou from Belarus . At the world championship of the same year in Créteil he achieved the greatest success in his wrestling career. He won the welterweight division there over Mark Overgaard Madsen from Denmark , Thomas Dantzler from the United States, Yakow Menscherow from Israel and Kim Jin-soo from South Korea . In the fight for the world title, however, he was defeated by Alexei Gluschkow and became vice- world champion .

In 2004 Konstantin Schneider was able to start at the Olympic Games in Athens with his placement at the 2003 World Championships . He also showed excellent fights in Athens and defeated the world-class athletes Mohamed Babulfath from Sweden and Volodymyr Schazkych , but lost in his third fight against Warteres Samurgaschew from Russia , who later became Olympic champion . He finished 7th.

In 2005 Konstantin Schneider won a bronze medal at the World Championships in Budapest . He won over Daniar Kobonow from Kyrgyzstan , Mowses Karapetjan from Armenia and Aleksandr Doxturishvili from Uzbekistan , lost to Warteres Samurgaschew and won the decisive battle for the bronze medal against Mohamed Babulfath . He fought for a good 5th place at the 2006 World Cup in Guangzhou . There he won over Zdorikow from Uzbekistan, Alexei Michailowitsch from Belarus and Davood Abedinzadeh Chadorchi from Iran . Against Wolodymyr Schazkych and Mark Overgaard Madsen , however, he lost in this championship.

In the following years, too, Konstantin Schneider competed in at least one international championship every year and was always among the top ten until 2010. In 2007 he finished 8th at the World Welterweight Championship in Baku and defeated there a. a. Manuchar K Wirkwelia from Georgia, who was to become Olympic champion in 2008 . In 2008 he came in 9th place at the European Championships in Tampere and took 9th place again at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing after defeating Messaoud Zeghdane, Algeria and defeats against Manuchar K Wirkwelia and Christophe Guénot from France . In 2009 Konstantin Schneider achieved a very good placement at the World Championships in Herning / Denmark with 5th place. There he beat Jung Tae-kyun from South Korea, Joachim Aardalen from Norway and Ewgeni Popow from Russia. Also at the 2010 World Cup, which now took part again at the age of 35, he defeated Hassan Shahsavan from Australia and was defeated by the Russian Emil Sharafetdinow , placing him 15th.
