Nazmi Avluca (born November 14, 1976 in Kargı , Çorum Province ) is a Turkish wrestler . He was bronze medalist at the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, two-time world champion and four-time European champion in the Greco-Roman style in welterweight and middleweight .
Career
Nazmi Avluca started wrestling at Bolu "Güres" in 1987 . Under the guidance of excellent trainers, he quickly developed into an excellent wrestler in Greco-Roman. Style that was one of the best Turkish wrestlers even as a junior. In the course of his long international career, which began in 1991 and continues into 2008, he has worked with many coaches. Be mentioned Riza Dogan , Gunes Yildiz, Bilal Tabur , Mehmet Acak, Erdogan Kocak and Mohamed Oruc. Nazmi Avluca soon moved from the provincial association Bola to the large association Konya "Seku Spor Külübü" and is supported by the large Turkish company TEDAS. He's practically a professional wrestler. In 2005 and 2006 he started at 1. Luckenwalder SC in the German Ringer Bundesliga.
His international wrestling career began at the age of 15 with a start at the Junior World Championships (Cadets) in Alma / Canada , where he came 7th in the weight class up to 51 kg. Just one year later he won the title in the same age group at the World Championships in Istanbul in the weight class up to 60 kg body weight.
He also won medals at his other starts at the international junior championships. In 1994 he won the welterweight championship of the Espoirs in Istanbul and finished 2nd behind the Finnan Tuoma Ojala at the World Cup of Espoirs in Budapest . At the Junior World Championships of the Espoirs in Tehran in 1995 , he came third behind Tamas Berzicza from Hungary and Konstantin Schneider from Germany , two wrestlers who soon became his rivals in the senior class.
His debut at an international senior championship in 1995 failed thoroughly, because he was eliminated from the World Championships in Prague after the first round with a defeat and only came in 21st place. All the more surprising, therefore, was his victory on his second appearance at an international championship. In 1996 he became European welterweight champion in Prague . He defeated Tamas Berzicza, Erik Hahn from Germany, Mnazakan Iskandarjan from Russia and Uladsimir Kapytau from Belarus . At the Olympic Games this year in Atlanta he won again over the strong Uladsimir Kapytau, but failed because of the experienced Swede Torbjörn Kornbakk and was eliminated after the third round. He finished only 13th.
In 1997 Nazmi Avluca only competed in the World Championships in Wroclaw . He defeated there again the German Erik Hahn, but lost to Marko Yli-Hannuksela from Finland and Yvon Riemer from France and in the fight for 5th place also against Baqtijar Baissejitow from Kazakhstan and came in 6th place.
In 1998 Nazmi Avluca won the bronze medal in welterweight at both the European championship in Minsk and the world championship in Gävle / Sweden . In Minsk he won it a. a. over the strong French Yvon Riemer, while he lost to Murat Kardanow from Russia in Gävle . In 1999 Nazmi Avluca managed to win at the European Championships in Sofia over the Russian newcomer Alexei Mishin , who was to become one of his main middleweight competitors in the next few years, but he was defeated by Tamas Berzicza and was eliminated after the 2nd round, where he ended up in 12th place.
Despite this disappointment, he achieved his second great success at the 1999 World Cup in Athens . He became world welterweight champion with five victories over many difficult opponents . In the final battle he defeated Yvon Riemer again on points.
In the 2000 Olympic year, Nazmi Avluca fully concentrated on the Olympic Games in Sydney and decided not to take part in the European Championship. A project that failed, because a defeat in his second fight against the South Korean Kim Jin-soo , who beat him 3-1 points, meant that he was eliminated. Only 13th place remained for him.
For the next four years, winning a bronze medal at the 2001 European welterweight championship in Istanbul was his only win at one of the classic international championships. In 2002 he became the student middleweight world champion and 2003 military world middleweight champion, but these successes do not count as those at the official world and European championships of the FILA.
In 2004 Nazmi Avluca was again European champion at the European Championships in Haparanda , but this time in the middleweight division, to which he had switched. Sandor Istvan Bardosi from Hungary and Dimitrios Avramis from Greece were his toughest opponents there. Despite this victory, Nazmi Avluca was not used at the Olympic Games in Athens. His bad luck was that in Turkey at that time Hamza Yerlikaya was also wrestling in the middleweight division, which was preferred to him.
In 2005 and 2006 Nazmi Avluca was very successful at the World and European Championships. He was third at the 2005 World Cup in Budapest, third at the 2006 European Championship in Moscow and even second at the 2006 World Cup in Guangzhou / China . At these championships he was only defeated by Artur Michalkiewicz from Poland , Alexei Mischin and, surprisingly, in 2006 by the Egyptian Mohamad Abd El Fatah .
2007 was a bad year for Nazmi Avluca from a sporting point of view. He finished in 9th place at the European Championships in Sofia and only came in 7th place in the middleweight division at the World Championships in Baku . Again it was Artur Michalkiewicz and Alexei Mischin, plus Georgian Badri Chassaia at the World Cup who defeated him.
After that year, Nazmi Avluca had probably been written off by many wrestling experts. But at the 2008 European Championships in Tampere , Finland , he proved that he had big plans for the 2008 Olympic year. In Tampere he showed excellent performances and became European champion with five wins. He also defeated the former Swedish world middleweight champions Ara Abrahamian and Badri Chassaia.
At the Olympic Games in Beijing, he won the bronze medal.
In 2009 Nazmi Avluca was again extremely successful. At the European Championships he had to give up his permanent opponent Alexei Mischin on points in the final battle and thus took second place, but at the World Championships this year in Herning , Denmark , he scored five wins and thus the world championship title. In the final he defeated Mélonin Noumonvi from France .
In 2010 he won another title. This time it was that of the European champion that he won in Baku. He defeated Mélonin Noumonvi and Alexei Mischin in his last two fights. At the 2010 World Cup in Moscow, Nazmi Avluca lost after winning three fights against Pablo Shorey from Cuba. Since this reached the final, he was able to continue fighting in the consolation round, but surprisingly lost in the fight for a World Cup bronze medal against Nenad Žugaj from Croatia and therefore had to be content with 5th place.
After 2010, Nazmi Avluca used his powers very carefully. He only started at the 2011 World Cup in Istanbul, where he fought his way to a World Cup with victories over Habibollah Jomeh Akhlaghi , Iran , Wassyl Ratschyba , Ukraine and Artur Omarov , Czech Republic , a defeat against Damian Janikowski , Poland and a win over Alan Chugajew , Russia -Bronze Medal. This placement also included the right to start the 2012 Olympic Games in London .
In 2012 he only started at a build-up tournament in Mariupol . He finished 3rd in the light heavyweight division behind Nikita Melnikow and Witale Raganin, both Russia. At the end of his great career, Nazmu Avluca took part in the Olympic Games in London. He lost there in the middleweight division but his first fight against Damian Janikowski from Poland, with which he was eliminated and only finished 15th.
