Erik Hahn (wrestler)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Erik Hahn (born September 25, 1970 in Neuseddin near Seddin ) is a German wrestler .

Career

Erik Hahn began his wrestling career as a teenager in the GDR in 1978 . He focused entirely on the Greco-Roman style. In 1988 he represented the GDR at the Junior World Championships in Wolfurt, Austria . He took 3rd place in the lightweight and won a medal. In 1990 he started at the European Junior Championships in Lapua / Finland and represented the reunified Germany here . He came in 6th place in the welterweight division in Lapua. In the German national team, Erik Hahn, who always competed in the welterweight division at a height of 1.81 meters, was trained by Lothar Ruch. During his wrestling career he was a member of a sports promotion company of the Bundeswehr.

Erik Hahn wrestled first for RSV Frankfurt (Oder), then since 2002 for 1. Luckenwalder SC and became German team champion with this club in 2005/06 . At the German senior individual championships in 1992, he won his first welterweight title, ahead of Mario Lauer from KSV Lahr - Kuhbach and former vice-world champion Mirko Jahn from VfK Schifferstadt . In 1993 he defended this title and relegated Oliver Thomas from KSV Witten and Mike Hartmann from Haibach to their places.

In 1993 Erik Hahn represented Germany for the first time at international senior championships. But he still had to learn the hard way at both the European Championships in Istanbul and the World Championships in Stockholm , because he lost his first fight against Petre Carara from Romania and Yvon Riemer from France and remained unplaced both times. At the European Championships in Athens in 1994, he did much better, because after two wins and one defeat against Torbjörn Kornbakk from Sweden he came in 7th place.

In 1995 Erik Hahn became German champion again, ahead of Jürgen Both from KSV Köllerbach and Jochen Jahn from AC Köln -Mülheim . At the 1995 European Championships in Besançon , he defeated Janos Kismoni from Hungary and Marko Asell from Finland, but lost to Sergei Poperetschny from Russia and Erol Koyuncu from Turkey and came in 8th place. At the world championship of this year in Prague he showed even better performances and won there first over He Bu from China , before he lost just on points in his second fight against his feared opponent Yvon Riemer . Then he defeated Zeljko Trajkovic from Yugoslavia , Jose Recuero from Spain and Wladimir Kopytow from Belarus (12: 1 points!). In the fight for a medal he met Mnazakan Iskandarjan from Russia, the multiple world champion . He delivered this an even fight, which in the end went without evaluation. The judges then gave the victory to Iskandarjan, probably because he was the "more prominent" of the two wrestlers. This left Erik Hahn in 5th place. At this championship he had proven his membership in the world class.

In 1996 Erik Hahn won the European Championships in Budapest with victories over Beslan Tschagijew , Moldova , Marko Asell and others. Torbjörn Kornbakk (8: 0 points), a defeat against Nazmi Avluca , Turkey (0: 3 points) and further victories over Stojan Dobrew , Bulgaria , and Artur Dsihassow , Ukraine , a bronze medal . He was also very close to winning a medal at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta . He defeated Vladimir Kopytow again there , then lost his second fight against Artur Dsihassow (1: 2 points) and then defeated Takamitsu Katayama from Japan , Tamas Berzicza from Hungary and Mnazakan Iskandarjan . In the battle for the bronze medal he started with a broken rib and suffered a narrow point defeat (2: 3 points) against Jozef Tracz from Poland .

In 1997 Erik Hahn was again German champion four times in a row. He relegated such strong rings as Murat Cebi from Markneukirchen and Konstantin Schneider from Köllerbach to their places.

It didn't work out so well for him on the international wrestling mat. At the European Championships in 1997 in Kouvola , he only came in 13th place due to injury. At the World Cup this year in Wrocław he had three wins, but defeats against Nazmi Avluca and Filiberto Ascuy Aguilera from Cuba threw him back to 9th place. In 1998 he came in 12th place at the European Championships in Minsk . At the European Championships in Sofia in 1999 he reached 11th place with one win and one defeat. At the 1999 World Cup in Gävle , after losing to Dimitris Avramis from Greece, he won victories over Tae-jung, South Korea and Besolt Desujew from Kyrgyzstan , but after that he was unable to continue due to injury and had to give up (14th place).

In 2000 Erik Hahn tried to qualify for the Olympic Games in Sydney for the Olympic Games. however, together with Konstantin Schneider , he did not succeed in gaining the necessary number of points in the qualifying tournaments. The 2000 European Championship in Moscow was the last international championship in which Erik Hahn participated. He came there after a defeat against Welin Marinow from Bulgaria with victories over Sorin Tasca, Romania and Georgios Tsiolas, Greece on the 9th place.

He then ended his international wrestling career, but was still in the Bundesliga team of 1. Luckenwalder SC for many years. He was a wrestler who, when he was in good shape, knew how to delight the audience with his brilliant technique.

Since 2007 he has been training the team of 1. Luckenwalder SC together with Andreas Zabel .
