Mirko Jahn

Mirko Jahn (born May 18, 1966 in Stralsund ) is a former German wrestler . He became vice-world champion in Greco-Roman style welterweight in 1986

Career

Mirko Jahn started wrestling at SC Dynamo Grimmen as a teenager . He concentrated on the Greco-Roman style. He was already very successful in his youth and in 1979, 1980 and 1984 in the respective age groups (AG 14, AG 15 and AG 16/18) GDR champion. In 1985 he became junior champion of the GDR in the welterweight division. In the meantime he switched to SC Dynamo Luckenwalde .

In 1985 he finished 4th in the senior welterweight championships in the GDR and 5th in 1986. In 1986 he also had his first major successes at international championships. In August 1986 in Malmö he became vice-European junior champion (age group "Espoirs"). He was then used in the welterweight championship in 1986 in Budapest , where he was surprisingly runner-up behind Mikhail Mamiashvili from the Soviet Union.

1987 Mirko Jahn was vice-champion of the GDR in the welterweight division behind his club colleague Andreas Lemke. He was used in August 1987 at the World Championships in Clermont-Ferrand . He could not win a medal there, but took a very good 5th place. At this world championship he defeated u. a. also Raimund Feser from the Federal Republic of Germany.

In 1988 he won his only GDR championship title in the welterweight division, ahead of Pusch, Dynamo Luckenwalde and Ulrich, SC Motor Zella-Mehlis .

After German reunification, Mirko Jahn wrestled with VfK Schifferstadt for a few years . At the German championships he came in 1992 in welterweight on 3rd place and 1994 in middleweight on 2nd place.

For further international championships he could no longer qualify.
