Andreas Zabel

Andreas Zabel (born August 26, 1971 in Berlin ) is a former German wrestler in freestyle and currently assistant coach behind Heiko Röll at Bundesliga club 1. Luckenwalder SC .

In 1990 Zabel started at the European Championships of Espoirs in the weight class up to 62 kg. Zabel, who was still racing for the GDR at the time , came in sixth. The winner was Jordan Denew from Bulgaria .

In 1991 Zabel became German junior champion, in the same year he was sixth at the junior European championships.

At the European Championships in 1997 in Warsaw , the trained chef finished in 15th place after he had won 3-1 against the Slovak Maxim Malkarit , but had lost against the Turkish Yüksel Sanli (who later became vice European champion) and against Emsarios Bentinidis from Georgia. In 1998 Zabel competed again internationally in Leipzig . At a tournament organized by the FILA , Zabel took 13th place. He had previously lost to Daniel Igali from Canada and to the Swiss Christoph Feyer .

Since 2007 Zabel has been the assistant coach of the Bundesliga team and the German champions of 2005, the 1st Luckenwalder SC.
