Kim "Soulkey" Min-chul (born December 10, 1991 ) is a professional South Korean e-athlete in the StarCraft II or StarCraft: Brood War discipline . He plays the Zerg breed.

Career

In StarCraft: Brood War, the predecessor of StarCraft II, Soulkey has played in the Proleague for his team Woongjin Stars since around 2011 . His greatest individual successes remained three times reaching the round of 16 at MSL and OSL between 2010 and 2012. Only when he switched to StarCraft II in 2013 did Soulkey become one of the best StarCraft players in the world.

In 2013 he achieved a place in the top eight in all nine tournaments in which he participated. With the World Cyber Games and WCS Season 1 Korea he won two of them, with two others he was only defeated in the final. With his team Woongjin Stars he finished the Proleague 2013 season in second place. Nevertheless, the team subsequently disbanded, whereupon he switched to SK Telecom T1 at the end of 2013 .

In terms of prize money won, he was the third most successful StarCraft-II player ever with over 100,000 dollars in 2013, behind sOs and Jaedong . Since 2014 he has not been able to build on the successes of 2013. At the end of the year his contract with SK Telecom T1 expired and he switched to TCM-Gaming, where he played until mid-2015. Since then he has been without a team. Since 2017 he has been concentrating again on StarCraft: Brood War, for which various larger tournament series have again been launched. At the end of 2018, he won KSL Season 2, which is worth around 26,700 US dollars .
