Ilana Kratysch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ilana Kratysch (born July 6, 1990 ) is an Israeli wrestler . In 2013 she was runner-up in the European championship in the weight class up to 67 kg.

Career

Ilana Kratysch is the daughter of Russian immigrants to Israel. She was born on July 6, 1990, one hour after her ship, coming from the Soviet Union , docked in Israel. The family settled in Haifa , where they still live today. Ilana first came to judo as a teenager because her father is a judo trainer. However, during her army service she switched to wrestling. Since she was already relatively old for a novice wrestler at this point, it naturally took a long time for her to grow into the international top class.

She competed in international championships from 2007 and achieved the best placement at the 2008 Junior European Championship in Kosice in the weight class up to 59 kg and at the 2010 European Junior Championship in Samokow / Bulgaria in the weight class up to 63 kg in 5th place. In 2008 she also took part in an international championship for women for the first time in Tampere. In the weight class up to 59 kg she reached 10th place. She did not achieve better placings at the international championships until 2011. Most of the time, she was often eliminated after a lost first fight. At the European Championships in Belgrade in 2012, she came in the weight class to her first victory. She beat Irene Garcia Garrido from Spain and finished 9th in this championship.

She did not qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. After the 2012 World Cup, which took place in Strahtcona County / Canada in September this year and where she finished 10th, she was able to sign a support contract with the Canadian Wrestling Association with the help of her father and some sponsors. She then trained for five months with the Canadian women's national team at the Montreal YMHA Wrestling Club with coaches Victor Zilberman and Martine Dugrenier .

The success of this measure was immediately apparent. Since then Ilana Kratysch has won five tournaments and in January 2013 defeated the reigning world champion in the weight class up to 63 kg Elena Piroschkowa from the United States in the final of the Guelph Open . After returning to Europe, she took part in the 2013 European Championships in Tbilisi, where she became vice European champion with victories over Dschanan Manolowa , Bulgaria and Aline Focken , Germany and a defeat in the final against Alina Stadnyk-Machynja from Ukraine.

In June 2013, the Egyptian wrestler Enas Mostafa refused to shake hands with Kratysch at the Grand Prix tournament in Sassari. During the fight, she broke two of Kratysh's fingers and bit her back until she was bleeding.

Restored, Ilana Kratysch took part in the World Cup in Budapest in September 2013. There she started in the weight class up to 72 kg body weight. But there she lost her first fight against the Japanese Hiroe Suzuki . Since this did not reach the final, she was eliminated and only came in 24th place.
