Audrey Prieto (born June 13, 1980 in Clermont-Ferrand ) is a French wrestler . In 2007 she became world champion in the weight class up to 59 kg.
Career
Audrey Prieto, who at times also started under the name Prieto-Bochaschwili, began wrestling as a teenager in her hometown of Clermont-Ferrand in 1996. She is of Hispanic Filipino descent. Since 2003 she has been trained by Nodar Bochaschwili and since 2010 by Benoit Schuller. Now she belongs to the US Metro Paris sports club and she is employed by the Paris Metro. Audrey Prieto is 1.62 meters tall.
She first appeared in 1998 when she took 3rd place in the French Junior Championship in the weight class up to 58 kg. She became French junior champion for the first time in 2000. In that year she started at her first international championship. At the Junior World Championships in Nantes she came in 6th place in the weight class up to 63 kg.
In 2002 Audrey Prieto won her first medal at a French women's championship with a 3rd place in the weight class up to 63 kg. In 2003 the first title was won at a French championship. She won other French championship titles in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. She started in no less than four different weight classes (up to 55 kg, up to 59 kg, up to 63 kg and up to 72 kg).
Audrey Prieto first took part in an international championship for women in 2003. She came in 9th place at the European Championships in Riga in the weight class up to 59 kg. She was unable to take part in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , where women's wrestling in four weight classes was on the program for the first time, because the weight class up to 59 kg in which she started was not Olympic. She only competed again at the 2005 European Championships in Varna and won her first medal at an international championship with wins over Desislawa Lyubenowa from Bulgaria and Julia Ratkewitsch from Belarus in a defeat in the final against Ida-Theres Nerell from Sweden with the silver medal .
She won the next medal at the 2006 European Championships in Moscow , where she won a bronze medal with victories over Wiktorija Grigorjewa from Latvia , Georgiana Narcisa Paic from Romania and Cecilia Skoglund from Sweden, with a loss to Lyubov Michailowna Wolossowa from Russia . At the World Championships in 2005 and 2006, she did not do so successfully, because she lost 2005 in Budapest to Ida-Theres Nerell and 2006 in Guangzhou against Ludmila Cristea from Moldova in the 2nd and 1st round, so she was eliminated early and only came in 12th and 14th respectively.
In 2007 she was only at the World Championships in Baku in the weight class up to 59 kg at the start. Here she managed the greatest success in their ringer career, because she was with wins over Sandra Roa Velandri, Colombia , Georgiana Narcisa Paic, Natalya Sinischin , Belarus and Stéphanie Groß , Germany , world champion .
In 2008 Audrey Prieto really wanted to compete in the Olympic Games in Beijing . But she had to change the weight class. Already in 2007 she made attempts to train in the weight class up to 55 kg, but this radical cure failed, although in 2007 she even became French champion in this weight class before the former world champion Anna Gomis . So in 2008 she took the path of another extreme and gained so much weight that she was able to compete in the weight class up to 72 kg. At the European Championships in Tampere in 2008 , she already started in this weight class, but lost there in the first round against Sumrud Gurbanhadschijewa from Azerbaijan and only came in 14th place. After that, however, she managed to qualify for the games in Beijing at the tournaments in Edmonton , where she was third, and in Haparanda , where she was second. In Beijing, however, she lost to Anita Schätzle from Germany in the first round , dropped out and only came in 14th.
At the World Championships in Tokyo after the Olympic Games , she started in the weight class up to 63 kg and even won a bronze medal after defeating Lyubov Michailowna Wolossowa from Russia in the semi-finals with a victory over Hanna Belyayeva from Belarus.
At the European Championships 2009 in Vilnius Audrey Prieto came in the weight class up to 63 kg after victories over Olga Butkewitsch from Great Britain and Laura Skujina from Latvia and defeats against Monika Ewa Michalik from Poland and Stefanie Stüber from Germany on a good 5th place. The last medal in her career for the time being she won at the 2010 European Championships in Baku. There she defeated Karin Stingelin from Switzerland , Elina Wasewa from Bulgaria and Hanna Beljajewa and only lost in the final battle against Lyubow Michailovna Wolossow, making her vice-European champion.
She also took part in the 2010 World Championships in Moscow , the 2011 European Championships in Dortmund , the 2011 World Championships in Istanbul and the 2012 European Championships in Belgrade , but could no longer place in the front fields. In 2012 she tried to qualify again for the Olympic Games in London in the tournaments in Sofia , Taiyuan / People's Republic of China and Helsinki , but did not succeed.
