The list of Olympic medalists from Russia lists all athletes of the Russian Olympic Committee who were able to win a medal at an Olympics. The Russian Olympic Committee was founded in 1911 and accepted by the International Olympic Committee in 1912 .

Medals balance

So far, athletes from Russia have been able to win Olympic medals in sports competitions in 1912. These are divided into 725 gold, 597 silver and 590 bronze medals. In the country's Olympic history there were four different teams that can be attributed to the current area:

  1. The team of the Russian Empire with the Olympic country code "RU1" (1900–1912)
    1 gold medal, 4 silver medals, 3 bronze medals
  2. The team of the Soviet Union with the Olympic country code "URS" (1952–1988)
    473 gold medals, 376 silver medals, 355 bronze medals
  3. The team of the Commonwealth of Independent States with the Olympic country code "EUN" (1992)
    54 gold medals, 44 silver medals, 37 bronze medals
  4. The Russian team with the Olympic country code "RUS" (from 1994)
    196 gold medals, 174 silver medals, 186 bronze medals
  5. The Russian team with the Olympic country code "OAR" (2018)
    2 gold medals, 6 silver medals, 9 bronze medals

Russia has participated in the Summer Olympics 19 times so far . The first participation took place in 1900 in Paris , the last in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro . Nine times, in the years 1896, 1904, 1920 to 1948 and 1984, no Russian athletes took part in the Summer Games. From the 1996 Summer Games, Russia won a total of 149 gold, 127 bronze and 159 bronze medals, making a total of 435 medals.

Russia has participated in the Winter Olympics 16 times so far . The first participation took place in 1956 in Cortina d'Ampezzo , the last so far in 2018 in Sochi . No Russian athletes took part in the Winter Games six times between 1924 and 1952. Russia won 49 gold, 45 silver and 44 bronze medals from the 1994 to 2018 Winter Games, for a total of 138 medals.

Flags indicate the most recent or last citizenship, if this was changed and is therefore no longer Russian.
