Wadym Markowytsch Hutzajt ( Ukrainian Вадим Маркович Гутцайт ; born October 6, 1971 in Kiev , Ukrainian SSR ) is a former Ukrainian saber fencer . He has been the Ukrainian Minister for Youth and Sport since March 4, 2020 .
successes
Wadym Hutzajt was in 1991 in Budapest with the team runner-up . In the individual, he also secured the bronze medal. He took part in the Olympic Games three times : In 1992 , Hutzajt started his first participation in Barcelona for the United Team . In the team competition he reached the battle for gold together with Heorhij Pohossow , Grigori Kirijenko , Stanislaw Posdnjakow and Alexander Schirschow after victories over Poland and Romania , in which Hungary was defeated 9: 3 and Hutzajt became Olympic champion . Four years later he finished the individual competition in Atlanta in sixth place after he was defeated in the quarterfinals Stanislav Posdnyakov with 14:15. At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, he finished 13th in the singles, while he was sixth with the team. In 2000 he won bronze at the European Championships in Funchal with the Ukrainian team . He also secured two gold medals each at Maccabiads and Universiads .
After his active career, he began to exercise various functions. Since 2000 he has been Vice President of the Ukrainian Fencing Federation and since 2002 a referee of the World Federation . Since 2004 he has also been a member of the Executive Committee of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine . In 2013 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the world association. After a cabinet reshuffle, he became Ukrainian Minister for Youth and Sport in the Schmyhal cabinet on March 4, 2020 .
