Mikhail Ivanovich Burzew

Mikhail Ivanovich Burzew ( Russian Михаил Иванович Бурцев ; born June 21, 1956 in Moscow ; † October 16, 2015 ibid) was a Soviet saber fencer . He took part in the Summer Olympics three times for the Soviet Union and was twice Olympic champion . He also won four world championship titles and fought for CSKA Moscow while playing .

successes

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, Burzew won team gold. In 1977 he was team world champion in Buenos Aires , in 1978 he won silver both individually and with the team at the World Championships in Hamburg. In 1979 he was again team world champion in Melbourne and also won bronze in the individual. He won team gold and individual silver at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow.

With the team Burzew won silver at the world championships in 1981 in Clermont-Ferrand, in 1982 bronze at the world championships in Rome, in 1983 he was again team world champion in Vienna , also in 1986 in Sofia . After he could not compete in 1984 because of the boycott of the Olympic Games , he won team silver at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul.

At the 1992 Olympics there was a coach of the united team of the former Soviet Union that won gold.
