Angelo Arcidiacono (born September 25, 1955 in Catania ; † February 26, 2007 there ) was an Italian saber fencer .

successes

Angelo Arcidiacono won bronze at the 1977 World Championships in Buenos Aires in singles and in 1978 in Hamburg with the team. He twice took part in the Olympic Games : In 1976 he finished ninth in the individual in Montreal , while he reached the final undefeated with the team. In this, the Soviet Union prevailed 9: 4, so that Arcidiacono received the silver medal together with Michele Maffei , Mario Aldo Montano , Mario Tullio Montano and Tommaso Montano . At the Olympic Games in 1984 he was again in the final fight with the Italian team in Los Angeles , in which France was defeated 9: 3. Thus Arcidiacono, together with Ferdinando Meglio , Gianfranco Dalla Barba , Marco Marin and Giovanni Scalzo Olympic champion . After the games, he focused on his professional career in medicine .
