Career

László Berti just missed a medal win at the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm with fourth place in the foil singles. With the saber he was eliminated from the individual competition in the semi-finals, while he made it to the final round undefeated with the team. In this, too, he remained without defeat with the Hungarian team, so that Berti was Olympic champion together with Dezső Földes , Jenő Fuchs , Oszkár Gerde , Ervin Mészáros , Zoltán Schenker , Péter Tóth and Lajos Werkner . At the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924 , he managed to get back into the final round with the saber team, in which Hungary this time had to admit defeat to Italy . Berti won the silver medal with János Garay , Sándor Pósta , József Rády , Zoltán Schenker, László Széchy , Ödön Tersztyánszky and Jenő Uhlyárik . In the foil fencing team competition, he was also in the final round, which he completed with István Lichteneckert , Sándor Pósta, Zoltán Schenker, Ödön Tersztyánszky behind France and Belgium on the bronze medal. Berti was runner-up in his native Budapest in 1926 with the foil.
